"Begedil" ......Cutlets/Patties




Cutlets or patties are popular appetizers among the Malays....Usually the base ingredient is potatoes and meat (i.e beef or chicken). For those who prefer the vegetarian option, simply leave out the meat from this recipe.










What you need:

4 large potatoes, skinned, boiled & mashed.
2 bulbs of spring onions chopped.
2 large onions chopped
Minced meat (about 1/4 the amount of mashed potatoes)
1 egg
2 tbsp plain flour.
Oil for frying.
Salt to taste & 2 tsps ground black pepper.

What to do & not to do:
Add all ingredients together in a large bowl EXCEPT the egg.
Mix the ingredients thoroughly & form patties (see picture)
Before drying, dip patties into egg.
Fry until golden & drain on kitchen towel before serving.

When frying, RESIST from flipping the patties too often or else they will break & you end up with mush!
